About

My name is Scott A. Rodbourn and each year I sponsor an annual event created by myself which I have named “Racing for a Reason”. As the owner and driver of the #12 Ford that I pilot at Black Rock Speedway located in Dundee N.Y. (a dirt track) on Friday & Saturday nights.

The event actually started back in 2006 following the death of N.Y.S. Trooper Andrew J. Sperr whom was fatally shot and killed following a bank robbery near Big Flats that year on July 8th I chose to take the track in my car with a special paint scheme which bared resemblance of a New York State Trooper car with the hood bearing words of remembrance of Trooper Sperr. Originally I intended to do so only to raise awareness but the outpouring was so great that I put together a raffle and raised nearly $1200. All of the money was donated to the memorial park located at the location where Trooper Sperr lost his life which is now a family park with a monument marking the exact spot.

I suddenly realized that the money I raised helped to turn a tragedy into something positive for our community. In 2007 on August 31st I again took to the track in my car painted red and yellow bearing the logo of the Children’s Miracle Network at Arnot Ogden Hospital and was able to donate $1615 to that charity hopefully assisting in saving the lives of children and families.

Thank you!
